On the 5th of November we celebrated the 15th anniversary of GREEN CORALS with a colourful programme all about marine aquaristics.

Over 40 aquarium, marine and diving enthusiasts, marine aquarists who have built their tanks with us, long-time regular coral customers, as well as friends and colleagues from Aquarienclub Braunschweig e.V., Die Tauchprofis, Unterwasserparcours im Salzgittersee, Scientists4Future and others attended.

The numerous children were also very welcome and were given their own aquarium tour with fish feeding.

Sandra had baked several delicious cakes and created a cosy atmosphere. Our own Miriam took beautiful photos of the event and helped organise the competition and catering for the guests.

Live corals and other small marine animals such as bristle worms, amphipods, shrimps, snails and various algae were examined using a stereo microscope. The live image was transmitted to the television so that everyone could observe the small marine creatures. In two rounds, Stephan gave the visitors an insight into the processes and the concept of our sustainable coral propagation at GREEN CORALS.

Our staff member Aljoscha showed how to make coral rocks. Those who dared were allowed to feed our wild and voracious fish during our “predator feeding”. Luckily all fingers stayed on 😉 Fabian, who attended his first Reef Check course and survey in Egypt 8 years ago, patiently answered all our questions about diving and reef monitoring.

Our competition (the questionnaire was available at the entrance, to the left of the champagne glasses) was well received, with both onsite guests and online participants taking part.
At 5pm things got really exciting: the 20 winners were drawn one by one according to the number of correct answers, and most of the prizes were handed out on the spot.

From coral vouchers to photo canvases, the new GREEN CORALS 2024 calendar to cushions and photo mats, there were some great prizes to be won. The questions were not easy – some required research on our website. For example, that our 21 year old surgeonfish is called “Jürgen”…
We were delighted that 10 people answered all the questions correctly.

We had a great time and would like to thank all the staff and visitors for a great day!
