The introductory lecture presents coral reefs as a fascinating and incredibly species-rich habitat that is also under great pressure from human activities. Live corals can be viewed under the stereo microscope! In the subsequent workshop, “Coral Reef Conservation”, we will explore this in more detail and discuss what needs to be done to protect this fragile ecosystem and preserve it for future generations.
