You will receive a seedling with at least 8 leaves.

In the aquarium, it is robust and excellent to maintain in lattice baskets filled with coral gravel. It permanently removes nutrients from the water, reducing NO3 and PO4 concentrations. After a few years it grows into a small tree and begins to form the distinctive stilt roots. If it becomes too large for the aquarium, it can also be moved to a separate brackish water aquarium or container and maintained as a houseplant.

Beschreibung

Rhizophora mangle is one of the most common mangrove species of the Atlantic Ocean and occurs in the intertidal zone, i.e. directly on the border with the sea.
Range: From Bermuda and Florida to southern Brazil and from the Caribbean to the tropical west coast of Africa.
The mangrove forests have an incredibly important function – as a fascinating habitat adjacent to the coral reefs, as a nursery for marine fish, for nutrient recycling and as a sediment trap – and especially important for us humans: as coastal protection against storm surges and tsunamis.
