SPS Stony Corals

Based on the size of the polyps, a distinction is made between LPS (“large polyped stony corals”) and SPS (“small polyped stony corals”).
It is often assumed that SPS corals are more “sensitive” than LPS corals.
But in fact there are also numerous very robust SPS species that have few demands on light, current or nutrient concentrations. Besides the mostly sensitive and light-hungry Acropora species, which thrive only at low nutrient concentrations and best water quality.
